One and Only is the 1st book in the Bridesmaids Behaving Badly Novels by Jenny Holiday.
This story is about four friends, Jane, Wendy, Elise, and Gia. Elise is the one getting married and is the current bridezilla and the others are the bridesmaids.
Jane is the star of this particular story. She's the mother of this small group, and the one that is dubbed the most responsible.
So when Elise asks her to babysit her fiance's brother, she reluctantly agrees.
Cameron MacKinnon is the brother. Elise is marrying Jay Smith and they are half brothers.
As the Cameron black sheep of the family, he's wild, drinks too much and sleeps around. He's also good at getting into trouble. As a kid, he was arrested for arson and was accused of getting his girlfriend pregnant.
So when Jane meets Cameron, she is expecting the worst. What she doesn't expect is to find that there's more to him than meets the eye.
What follows then is a get-to-know-you type of story. And as they get to know each other, they find that they have more in common than they first thought.
There is so more to Cameron than the party man and there is more to Jane than just being plain old Jane , mousy and boring.
They both realize that there is more to each other and that they both are not what they seem and during this time the fall for each other.
So while they are forced to spend time together, they end up wanting to be together in the end.
Jane may be reserved and not exciting, but being with Cameron brings out a side of her that no one else sees.
And Cameron is actually not the irresponsible jerk that everyone thinks he is. He may have had some hard knocks because of what he's been through but he is actually an okay guy.
The characters really compliment each other as the story moved forward.
And it's during that courtship that they take things to the next level and there are several sexy scenes to be aware of. And yes, they are fairly detailed. The author also uses crude words.
And it wouldn't be a typical romance if their insecurities didn't come back to haunt them. And near the end they do. Jane gets scared and Cameron feels inadequate so they go their seperate ways only to find that they would rather be together than not.
So in the end, Cameron makes a huge gesture toward Jane and they live happily ever after!!!
It's a cute story. The author talks fast, so you are flying through the story as if someone was sharing something exciting.
The storyline is well written and the characters are developed well. You don't feel like there are pieces of the plot missing like some books.
I definitely look for next books in this series.
