Harvest Moon is the 15th book in the Virgin River Series by Robyn Carr.
This book is closely connected to book 14, as the main characters are sisters.
This is Lief's and Kelly's story.
Lief is a screen writer that has come to Virgin River because he is at his wits end trying to deal with his emotionally charged step-daughter, Courtney.
Kelly is sisters with Jillian (book 14) and comes crawling to Virgin River because she left her high stress job being a sous-chef!!
Now while the book does touch on other's in Virgin River, the majority of the story is about Lief and Kelly getting to know each other.
But it's also about getting to know Courtney. She's still reeling from the death of her mother. Okay, so is Lief. But she has taken things further. She dresses Goth, has pure attitude and is getting into things that Lief is having trouble handling. He's hoping the lower pace of life in Virgin River will help her to come to terms with their loss.
So you see characters from the other stories as Courtney, Lief and Kelly interact with them.
For example, you meet Lilly again (book 13) because she runs a horse training arena and Lief enrolls Courtney in one of her programs.
You also see Jerry Powell again. He's the counselor that helps Courtney come to terms with her mother's death. He also helped Rick and Lizzy during their difficult times. He doesn't have a book, but is a recurring character. He's an interesting character. I like how he talks with Courtney.
And because Kelly is Jillian's sister, you see how Jillian and Colin are doing.
But the majority of the story is focused on Kelly and Lief. And for Lief it was love at first sight!!!
So this book is really a get-to-know-you type of book. The characters already know that they are going to end up together, they just have to get to know each other.
While this is a get-to-know you type of book, Courtney plays a factor with their relationship. It takes a
And she has issues of her own. Like a dead-beat dad that really doesn't want to have anything to do with her. She learns that the hard way. But in the end, all she wants is be wanted.
Kelly spends her time cooking and while she's cooking, she's healing from the mixup that she left. Which also makes her a little gun shy to start another relationship.
Kelly is a sous-chef and does a lot of cooking throughout the story. There's not actual recipes to follow/read, but there are tons of ideas that you can take a gander at if you're a cook!!
Yes, there are some sex scenes to deal with. I would call them medium in intensity. RC does get a bit detailed but doesn't use crude words when describing things.
The story does end happy, it has too!! It's a romance! But what's a bit different with this one is that there was a relationship between Kelly and Courtney. And RC went into great detail of the adjustment that happens when children come to accept a new parent into the family. I really enjoyed it! Definitely worth reading again!
